ALISO VIEJO, Calif.– This afternoon the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the Week 8 Athlete of the Week honorees and Cal Lutheran's Ben Brown of Kingsmen water polo was selected.
A freshman from Chula Vista, Calif., Brown earned the Men's Water Polo OffensiveAthlete of the Week award. This is the second time this year that Brown has earned the award. The Kingsmen have won four weekly awards in total.
Brown, an attacker, helped the Kingsmen to a 1-0 mark on the week. CLU took down Chapman 11-9 on Wdnesday. They needed a win to give them a chance to clinch a spot in the SCIAC tournament. With a Redlands loss on Saturday, the win did just that as Cal Lutheran grabbed the No. 4 seed in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament.
Brown was a force on the offense and defensive end. He recorded four goals and added three steals in the win.
The SCIAC Athlete of the Week series is released each Monday throughout the academic year.
