Regals Earn First Win of Spring

The first home game of 2016 for the Cal Lutheran women’s water polo season pitted the Regals against Azusa Pacific, falling 10-6, before the Violet and Gold dove in against Grove City (Pa.) for a nightcap in which the home team prevailed for its first win of the season, 16-2.

After back-to-back fifth place finishes in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) standings, the Cal Lutheran women’s water polo team will look to an experienced group of 16 returners while adding nine newcomers to make some noise in 2016.

On 10 different dates in 2016, the Cal Lutheran women’s water polo team will jump into the pool at the Samuelson Aquatics Center for 14 games, including six at the Second Annual Tina Finali Invitational, as announced by head coach Craig Rond.

The ACWPC released the 2015 women’s water polo All-Academic awards earlier this month and Cal Lutheran earned team recognition with 10 Regals being recognized individually for the third straight year.

Card Concludes Career with All-America Nod; Jones, Merry Earn Honorable Mention

For the final time of a stellar collegiate water polo career at Cal Lutheran, Jordan Card reeled in her third straight Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Division III All-America selection. Joining the graduate with accolades were juniors Amanda Jones and Gina Merry who each garnered All-America Honorable Mention status for the first time of her career.

CLU to Host Special Olympics Delegations

The largest sporting event in Los Angeles since the 1984 Olympics is coming to town and California Lutheran University and the city of Thousand Oaks are honored to be hosting Special Olympic World Games delegations from four countries between July 21-24, 2015 prior to the start of competition on July 25 as a Host Town.

Learfield Directors' Cup Standings Announced

At the conclusion of each academic and athletic year the school with the most combined championships points in Division III is honored with the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup. In 2014-15 Cal Lutheran was one of eight SCIAC schools to appear in the final standings as announced on June 4.
