Flores, Kahovec Break Own CLU Records

Senior Eric Flores highlighted the Cal Lutheran performances winning both the hammer throw and shot put at the 2011 Cal/Nevada Championships this past weekend. Toccoa Kahovec won the 3,000 meter steeplechase beating her own school record by over 14 seconds.

The Cal Lutheran track and field team wrapped up competition at the two-day Westmont Collegiate Classic on Saturday with the Kingsmen taking third and the Regals finishing fourth out of the seven team field. Meanwhile teammate Eric Flores broke the school record by winning the hammer throw at the Cal/Nevada Championships at CMS.

In the first of four SCIAC Quad meets this season the CLU women's track and field team fell to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and defeated La Verne to split Saturday's competition at the Burns Track Complex. Kourtney Jones broke a 23-year old school record in the triple jump becoming the first to surpass 11 meters.

It comes at an appropriate time after the Kingsmen football team defeated then No. 4 Linfield this past Saturday.
