One year removed from a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) championship, the Cal Lutheran women’s track and field team is eager to be back on top after a fifth place finish with a young team in 2015.
Run fast and jump far, oh, and don’t get tripped up on the skipping part. Senior Regal Amanda Hamilton holds the title for longest Triple Jump, 400m Hurdles, 4x100 M and 4x200m Relay in California Lutheran University history and her name dots the Top-10 category in three other events.

Announced late last week by the USTFCCCA, the entire Cal Lutheran women’s track and field team, as well as a pair of individuals, was recognized for accomplishments in the classroom and competition settings in 2015.
The largest sporting event in Los Angeles since the 1984 Olympics is coming to town and California Lutheran University and the city of Thousand Oaks are honored to be hosting Special Olympic World Games delegations from four countries between July 21-24, 2015 prior to the start of competition on July 25 as a Host Town.
Six Cal Lutheran student-athletes were selected to The Star’s College First Team of the Spring in 2015. Earning accolades were Ramsey Abushahla (baseball), Michael Bassette (track & field), Moises Cardenas (tennis), Blake Lewis (softball), Keegan Sheard (golf) and Melissa Skiba (track & field).
Melissa Skiba couldn’t have scripted a better ending to her college career. Competing in her final race in a Cal Lutheran uniform, Skiba captured the 5,000-meter title at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in May. The victory put the finishing touches on a sterling distance legacy for Skiba at CLU.
Junior Amanda Hamiltonand senior Arik Smithwere recently named 2015 All-American Athletes of the Year as announced by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and EAS Sports Nutrition.
