With more incoming student-athletes than returners, the Cal Lutheran women’s track and field team will rely on an infusion of youth, coupled with its experience, to stay competitive after a third place finish in the SCIAC standings last season.
Announced at the end of July, the Cal Lutheran men’s and women’s track and field teams were honored with USTFCCCA All-Academic awards while a trio of senior student-athletes finished their respective careers with individual accolades as well.
The 2015-16 academic year was a memorable one for the Cal Lutheran athletics department. With 430 student-athletes occupying 460 roster spots, a number of milestones were met including the first NCAA Division III National title in school history, which was achieved by the women’s volleyball team, and an individual national champion crowned to round out the year.
Announced after the NCAA Division III Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships in late May, two Cal Lutheran women’s track and field members earned USTFCCCA All-America honors after finishing among the top eight in their events at the meet on the campus of Wartburg in Waverly, Iowa.
Announced on Tuesday afternoon by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), Cal Lutheran women’s track and field student-athlete and newly crowned National Javelin champion Allie Hadley was selected as the Female Co-Athlete of the Week for her accomplishments during the week of May 23-29.
The final collegiate meet donning Cal Lutheran colors for Allie Hadley and Amanda Hamilton was more than memorable for the senior duo as each became a repeat All-America honoree for the women’s track and field team. Hadley claimed the 2016 NCAA Division III Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Javelin title and Hamilton returned to the podium in the Triple Jump at the Championships hosted by Wartburg College today.
Announced on Tuesday afternoon by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), Cal Lutheran women’s track and field student-athlete Amanda Hamilton and Kingsmen baseball student-athlete Davey Casciola were named Male and Female Athlete of the Week for their accomplishments during the week of May 16-22.
