Competing in their second SCIAC road contest in as many days, the Cal Lutheran Regals made the trek to Claremont to face the Athenas Saturday afternoon.
Cal Lutheran took to the courts on the
road Friday afternoon and defeated Caltech in its conference opener. The Regals
earn their first win over an NCAA Division III opponent and snap a three-match
losing skid with the victory.
The weather held out long enough
for Cal Lutheran women's tennis to host a Saturday meeting with Trinity (CT)
College. The Regals were held without a point for the first time this season
falling 9-0 to the Bantams.
Nearly three weeks removed from their
last match against live competition, the Cal Lutheran Regals nearly completed
their comeback against the Willamette Bearcats Friday afternoon.
Both Cal Lutheran and Salisbury waited to see if the weather would allow the two teams to face one another at the Poulson Tennis Courts Wednesday afternoon.
Cal Lutheran played its first NCAA
Division III opponent on Monday, as well as suffered its first loss of the
season after dropping a 7-2 result to Kenyon of Ohio at the Poulson Tennis
Center.
Even the recent wet weather has failed to
dampen the Regals hot start to the season as CLU tennis went on to shutout
Biola following a lengthy weather-forced layoff from competition.
With current
rain and more projected wet weather hitting the southern California region
throughout the upcoming weekend, various Cal Lutheran athletic events have been
postponed and rescheduled.
