In Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action on Saturday afternoon, the Cal Lutheran women’s tennis team cruised to a 7-0 victory over a shorthanded Whittier Poets squad at Poulson Tennis Center to earn its first win of the season.
Playing in its first home match of the season, the Cal Lutheran women’s tennis team dropped a 9-0 verdict to the Brandeis (Mass.) Judges in non-conference play at the Poulson Tennis Center on Thursday evening.
An experienced group of players will return to the courts for a Cal Lutheran women’s tennis team that features just seven players, all returning, for the 2017 campaign that is set to get underway in early February.
The 2015-16 academic year was a memorable one for the Cal Lutheran athletics department. With 430 student-athletes occupying 460 roster spots, a number of milestones were met including the first NCAA Division III National title in school history, which was achieved by the women’s volleyball team, and an individual national champion crowned to round out the year.
