Regals Net Victory in Dramatic Fashion

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Cal Lutheran and Westmont were tied with one match remaining to decide
Saturday's winner at the Poulson Tennis Center. Lindsay Murphy earned the
match-clinching point in at the No. 4 singles spot as the Regals preserved
their perfect record this season.

Murphy evened her singles match taking the second set 6-4 to
force a third. With the team result still in question the players competed in a
full third set to decide the winner.
Murphy was down a break 2-3 in the third set but broke her
opponent Emily Keach's serve to even the match. She would go on to win four of
the final five games to close out the match and win 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Westmont's pair of NAIA nationally ranked players Nicci
Yvanovich and Tara Yekrang combined to score three of the team's four points.
The duo combined to provide their team's lone doubles point, and split up to
win their respective singles matches in straight sets.
Five of the six singles matches were settled in straight
sets with CLU's Sarah Baker and Carly Mouzes winning at No. 5 and No. 6
singles, respectively. With their Saturday victories both remained unbeaten
this season in both singles and doubles play.
Cal Lutheran (3-0) will host Chapman (1-0) on Friday, Feb. 10.
