Benson Leads Regals Past Alma Mater
CLU cruises past Pacific Lutheran 9-0
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - After guiding the Lutes men's
and women's tennis programs to 490 wins in his time there, California
Lutheran University women's tennis head coach Mike Benson led the
Regals to a 9-0 win over his alma mater, Pacific Lutheran (WA)
University on Monday at the Poulson Tennis Center.
The Regals cruised in doubles play for three wins to open the match and
followed with six wins in singles play including two matches that went
to a third set.
Freshmen Jordan Leckness and Holly Beaman provided an 8-0 win at No. 2
doubles and Beaman had no problems in her No. 5 singles match with a
6-1, 6-0 victory.
Fellow freshman Kim Kolibas earned an 8-3 win in No. 3 doubles teamed
with freshman Nicole Barnhart and then won at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-1.
Last season the Regals fell to Pacific Lutheran 8-1.
Cal Lutheran (8-5, 3-1 SCIAC) will continue its home stand with another
non-conference match on March 24 at 1 p.m. as it hosts Mills College.
