CLU Women's Volleyball, Soccer Advance to SCIAC PST Finals

Tonight at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the 2015 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Postseason Women’s Soccer Tournament kicked off with one of two semifinal games. A battle between Cal Lutheran and the Athenas went in favor of the Regals who edged out a 2-1 victory at Pritzlaff Field on Thursday night.

For the tenth consecutive season, the Cal Lutheran women’s soccer team will be playing in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Postseason Tournament. With back-to-back wins to close out the season, the Regals leaped into the third spot and will travel to No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 7:00 p.m. on Pritzlaff Field for their semifinal matchup.

On a night when the Cal Lutheran women’s soccer team knew that it had to win to get into the SCIAC Postseason Tournament, the Regals took the field at La Verne and left it all on the field, earning a 2-1 win to place among the top four in the conference standings to live to play another day.

Sweet Senior Night for Eight Regals

For the final time of the season, eight Cal Lutheran women’s soccer players suited up for the Regals tonight at William Rolland Stadium. In a must-win-to-stay-in SCIAC game against Pomona-Pitzer, the Violet and Gold earned a 3-1 victory for a sweet senior sendoff.

SCIAC women’s soccer at Rolland Stadium tonight was a contest full of Violet and Gold as Cal Lutheran hosted Whittier in the second straight Saturday soccer doubleheader. Unfortunately for the Regals, a 1-0 shutout went to the Poets.

Tonight’s SCIAC game against Occidental was dedicated to Childhood Cancer Awareness at Rolland Stadium as the Cal Lutheran women’s soccer team and Cancer Fit, Inc. teamed up to promote an event that recognized numerous local families of survivors with a special ceremony for honorary team captain Sophia Tapia. They got a game and then some as the teams battled to a scoreless double overtime draw.

Entering the evening the Cal Lutheran and Redlands women’s soccer teams shared the third spot in the SCIAC standings. After an intense meeting, the Bulldogs walked away with sole possession of that spot after the home Regals were defeated 1-0.

CLU to Host Childhood Cancer Awareness Night on Oct. 17

Childhood Cancer Awareness month (September) has come to a close, but providing information and spreading awareness never really ends. On Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, both the Cal Lutheran men’s and women’s soccer teams will take time to celebrate and recognize their Cancer Fit, Inc. draftees prior to and during halftime of their respective games.
