On Wednesday, Apr. 6 institutions
of higher learning will celebrate student-athletes across the country as part
of National Student-Athlete Day. The program of the National Consortium for
Academics and Sports (NCAS), has been celebrated annually on this date since
Cal Lutheran University will sponsor
women's golf as an NCAA Division III intercollegiate program effective the
2011-12 academic year. This comes during an economic climate in which many
institutions of higher learning are cutting budgets and entire programs.
