Kahovec Completes Cross Country Career at Nationals

Senior caps off career with top-40 finish

WINNECONNE, Wis. - Toccoa Kahovec competed in the final collegiate cross country competition of her career at the NCAA National Championships. She finished 36th overall during Saturday's 6k race on the course at Lake Breeze Golf Club.

Kahovec kept to her race strategy building from start to finish. She improved her spot amongst the field at each mile marker and was in 68th position after posting a 5:41 opening mile.

The senior harrier moved up 24 spots after covering the next mile in 5:56, and was the 43rd runner to complete the opening three miles following a 5:58 third mile split.

Kahovec picked off seven more runners before crossing the finish line in 36th place. The experience of last year and effort this past season paid dividends on Saturday. She showed marked improvement following a junior season in which she finished 115th overall at this same competition a year ago.

Chiarra Del Piccolo, a sophomore from Williams earned the individual title.
