Roy Dow was named the new Head Coach of the California Lutheran women's basketball team on July 16, 2008.
He is a commonly known figure in the SCIAC after spending six seasons at
conference member Caltech. While with the Beavers, Dow vastly enhanced
the program as the team improved in nearly every statistical category.
His head coaching experience began as he became the first men's
basketball Head Coach in Wheaton (MA) College history in 1989. In just
his fourth year the Lyons finished 20-5 overall and landed postseason
berths his final two seasons.
Dow has experience at the various collegiate levels following a
three-year stint with Division I Holy Cross (MA) and a year with
Division II Chaminade (HI).
He returned to his alma mater at Colby College in 1998 and recorded a
137-63 combined record as a player, assistant coach and acting head
coach over seven season with the Mules.
Dow has been on the NCAA West Region Selection Committe as a SCIAC Representative since 2005.
A member of both the basketball and baseball programs at Colby, he
earned a Bachelor of Arts in Goverment with an emphasis in Public
Policy. He is currently working on a Master's Degree in Sports
Management at Virginia Commonwealth University.
