THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Saturday evening the Gilbert Arena will be the site of a collegiate
basketball game, but the message being sent to fans in attendance will be much greater
than the outcome of that contest. The women's basketball team will be promoting
breast cancer awareness month as part of the Play 4Kay campaign.
Play 4Kay is an opportunity for coaches and players to raise
awareness of breast cancer on the court, around campus and in the community.
Members of the team will be decorating the gym and wearing a number of pink
items, including shoes, shoe laces and headbands, while head coach Roy Dow will
sport a pink shirt and tie.
The official charity is the Kay Yow
Cancer Fund in partnership with The V Foundation and Women's Basketball
Coaches Association (WBCA).
Cal Lutheran and all teams in the Southern California
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will be participating in the event over the
coming week.
