PASADENA, Calif. - The Cal Lutheran women's basketball team secured a winning conference record this season following a 58-35 victory against Caltech on Thursday night. Danika Briggs' career-high 17 points led the CLU offense in the win.

Box Score: CLU 58, CIT 35 - F

The CLU defense was able to repeat its solid performance from the previous meeting holding Caltech to only 35 points on Thursday after allowing a season-low 27 to the Beavers back on January 9 in Gilbert Arena.

CIT shot just 11-for-40 from the floor while CLU went 20-for-65 taking 25 more shot attempts than the opposition. Krissy Dahl led the Beavers with 13 points going 4-for-7 from the field.

Briggs was the lone bright spot scoring offense for a Regals team that suffered nearly its worst shooting performance of the season. The sophomore guard went 5-for-5 from the floor including 3-for-3 from downtown in the opening half of playing scoring 13 of her 17 in the opening period.

Several players were given the night off allowing for Alex Nelson to score a career-high eight points in her first start in a Regals uniform.

The win preserves in unblemished record away (4-0) from Thousand Oaks as CLU has won three true road games and one neutral contest with three remaining away meetings left in its remaining regular season schedule.

Cal Lutheran (16-4, 8-1 SCIAC) can cement its bid for a conference tournament berth with a victory on Saturday, February 6 against La Verne (10-10, 3-6 SCIAC) with tip-off scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Regals defeated the Leopards 69-56 during their first meeting at ULV on January 14.
