CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Regals closed out their 2008-09 campaign at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday night falling 64-62. Despite leading by as many as 16 in the first half, CLU's offense stalled in the second half allowing the Sagehens to complete a furious comeback.

Danika Briggs knocked down 6-of-7 first half shots in scoring 14 of her team-high 15 points. Christina Cherry and Cheryl Lee scored eight apiece and combined for seven rebounds and four assists in the opening period.

The Regals extended their lead to 29-13 midway through the first half but PP's Deirdre Chew scored the final 11 Sagehen points of the period cutting the deficit to six.

CLU shot 17-of-36 from the floor contributing to the most first half points (41) since the team's season opener against CSU East Bay on November 22.

Just over two minutes into the second half the lead was gone and the score tied 41-41 but the Regals would not trail until the 3:52 mark.

Cal Lutheran's hot start fizzled in the second half as the team made just one field goal over the final 10 minutes of regulation.

Senior Cheryl Lee added nine points, four assists and two rebounds in her final game as a Regal. Fellow senior Melissa Conway grabbed one board in three minutes.

Cal Lutheran (7-18, 5-9 SCIAC) will finish in sixth place in the conference standings ahead of Pomona-Pitzer (4-10 SCIAC) and Caltech (0-14 SCIAC).
