THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The California Lutheran University women's basketball returned home to face Lewis & Clark (OR) College on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 72-62 decision to the Pioneers. L&C's Kim Kittrell scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Pioneers.

The Pioneers never trailed in the game and led by as many as 15 in the first half following a 12-0 run with four different players contributing points.

The Regals were held to only 9-of-29 shooting while the Pioneers enjoyed a 14-of-28 performance in the opening 20 minutes.

Cal Lutheran, as it has throughout the season, made an early second half run cutting the deficit to 42-38 with 11:28 in regulation. The Regals bench played a large role in the team's comeback scoring 23 of 38 second half points.

CLU forward Shana Moore led the non-starters with a team-high 15 points in 27 minutes. Danika Briggs added 10 in 19 minutes off the bench.

CLU's defense picked up holding the Pioneers to just 9-of-27 shooting in the second half, but a 24-16 rebounding advantage held off any late comeback attempts. L&C's Margaret Dowling was the main contributor grabbing 14 rebounds, including 10 in the second half and chipped in with nine points.

Kittrell recorded game-highs in points (25), steals (7) and assists (5). She also grabbed six rebounds and scored 16 of her 25 in the second half.

Cal Lutheran (1-6) will host the two-day Posada Royale Classic on December 28-29. The Regals will open the event against John Carroll (OH) University on Sunday at 2 p.m.
