Kevin Judd

Assistant Coach

Coach Kevin Judd has been an assistant coach for the Cal Lutheran volleyball program since 2006. Judd primarily oversees the outside hitters and setters.

Under his guidance, Cal Lutheran has produced four All-American outside hitters since 2009. Judd help coached Kylie McLogan to record-breaking seasons in 2012 and 2013. A two-time First Team All-American, McLogan shattered the CLU single season record with 471 kills in only her second year in the program (2012) and followed with 520 as a senior in 2013. Most recently, he coached Allie Eason to a pair of All-America honors as an outside hitter in 2013 (Third Team) and 2014 (First Team). She is currently fifth all-time at CLU and will make a run at McLogan’s school mark in her senior year (2015).

Additionally, Judd has been key in the success of setters Lindsey Benson (’08), Jackie Russell (’14) and Jena Chavez (’15) with all three surpassing the 2,000 career assists plateau. Russell is in a league of her own with 4,978 career assists, which are more than 2,200 ahead of the second best all-time.

Cal Lutheran led the SCIAC in both kills and assists in each season between 2009 and 2013. During that five-year stretch, CLU won four straight league titles and added a fifth in 2014.  The Regals put down a total of 1804 kills throughout the 2013 season, for the most in Judd’s tenure, and the same season the setters handed out 1,648 as the team advanced to the national title match, earning runner-up status.

Overall, Judd brings more than 25 years of coaching experience combined at the high school, college and club levels.

He was instrumental in starting up a men's volleyball program at Moorpark College in 2002. In their first year, they made it to the state championship tournament with a fourth place finish. Three years later, in 2005, they won a state championship.
