THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Only 16
hours after earning its most recent SCIAC victory at La Verne, No. 15 Cal
Lutheran completed yet another successful weekend with its 25-22, 25-20, 25-16
win over Pomona-Pitzer Saturday afternoon.
Box Score: CLU 3, PP 1 - F
The Regals have now
won 21 of the last 24 head-to-head meetings and three straight three-set sweeps
over the Sagehens.
Earning all but two of Cal
Lutheran's 42 assists, junior setter Jackie Russell not only set a new
three-set season high, but also earned career assist No. 3,000 in the latter
moments of the match.
Setting a new CLU all-time
record two weeks ago at home against Chapman, Russell now sits in first place
with 3,003 career assists.
Freshman outside hitter Kylie
McLogan led all players with 13 kills, and was responsible for one of the two
new three-set season highs earned against Pomona-Pitzer Saturday afternoon.
Cal Lutheran also set a new
three-set season high with 42 assists, helping preserve the Regals' current
status as the only SCIAC team with an undefeated conference record.
Also registering double-digit
kills against the Sagehens were junior outside hitter Rachel Smith and senior
right side Casy McWhirk as the pair ended the afternoon with 11 and 10
respectively.
Senior libero Jacki Richards
led all Regals with 14 digs, tying her three-set season high originally set
against Redlands last Saturday.
All that stands between the
Regals (13-4, 6-0 SCIAC) and their upcoming six-match homestand is Tuesday
night's contest at Whittier (3-12, 1-3 SCIAC). That match against the Poets
will start at 7:30 p.m.
