Cal Lutheran Sweeps Redlands, 3-0
Orlandi sets a new season-high, Chavez makes CLU debut

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - With 11 Regals registering at least
one kill in Saturday night's home match, No. 15 Cal Lutheran
ended the first week of its conference schedule with a 25-16, 25-23, 25-16
victory over the Redlands Bulldogs.

Senior rightside hitter Casy
McWhirk and junior middle blocker Lesley Smith led the way for the Regals with
eight kills apiece, and were two of 11 players to register at least one kill
against Redlands.
Entering Saturday's match
with her team trailing in the early moments of the second set, Cal Lutheran
freshman Hannah Orlandi helped her team erase Redlands' largest lead of the
night, earning two of her season-high four kills during that pivotal moment of
the match.
As was the case with the
first set, Cal Lutheran built a sizable lead early in the third set as well, leading
Redlands by as much as seven points before Jacki
Richards ended the night with her second service ace.
Competing in her inaugural
match for Cal Lutheran, freshman setter Jena Chavez not only recorded her first collegiate kill, but also earned four assists.
CLU has now defeated Redlands in 15 of the last 16 matches, including the last eight straight played in Thousand Oaks.
Cal Lutheran (10-4, 3-0 SCIAC) will resume its SCIAC schedule on Tuesday, Sept.
27 at Caltech (0-7, 0-3 SCIAC). That match will begin at 7:30 p.m.
