Regals Make Quick Work of Sagehens
Plante-Newman, Exline, Kerr double-digit kills

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The California Lutheran University volleyball team returned to Gilbert Sports Center on Tuesday night to defeat Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, 3-0. The trio of Summer Plante-Newman, Erin Exline and Allison Kerr each had double-digit kills in the 30-21, 30-25, 30-18 victory.
After taking game one by nine the Regals held a 21-8 advantage in game two. However, the Sagehens would not go quietly cutting the deficit to three, 27-24 before falling by five.
Despite an early four point run on Sagehen senior Emily Bockmon’s serve, the Regals managed to sideout on every serve but two in a dominant 30-18 win.
Plante-Newman not only led the team with 16 kills but also five aces to go along with 15 digs. The Regals won 10 points in game two and 17 for the match on her serve.
Exline returned to her starting role, after being sideline due to injury for several matches, taking a season-high 27 swings, smashing 12 for kills. Kerr notched 11 kills and a match high 3.5 blocks in Tuesday’s win.
Setter Lindsey Benson managed the offensive attack well dishing out 43 assists to go along with nine digs and eight kills and two blocks.
Cal Lutheran (16-7, 9-2 SCIAC) will remain in Thousand Oaks to face the University of Redlands on Friday, October 26 at 7:30 pm.
