BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – The Cal Lutheran Regals water polo team received a vote in the 2018 Women's Varsity Final National Top-25 Poll which was released Wednesday by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA).
It is the first time in program history that the Regals have finished their season on the top-25 poll. Cal Lutheran was 21-9 on the year, with a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) record of 12-2. CLU was the No. 2 seed at the SCIAC Postseason Tournament and made it to the championship game.
"It's a great honor to be recognized on the same list as so many great programs and teams," said women's water polo head coach Craig Rond. "It was nice to see our team's success and hard work rewarded by the coaches in our sport."
The poll is voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season.
