THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.— Cal Lutheran women's volleyball won its fifth straight game as the Regals swept the Redlands Bulldogs 25-13, 25-21, 25-21, on Saturday night as they celebrated Senior Night.
The Regals honored their lone senior, Carly Rose Howard, before the match, and then sent her off with a win in their regular season finale. The season continues for Howard and the Regals as CLU locked up the No. 3 spot in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament with a conference record of 11-5. Cal Lutheran will be at Chapman on Thursday for the semifinals of the tournament.
Cal Lutheran ended the regular season on a five-game win streak and swept four of those opponents. The Regals are 17-10 overall and have swept 10 opponents this season.
The offense continued its hot hitting stretch as Samantha Landrum led the way with 10 kills while hitting with a .412 percentage. Maci Haddad was next with eight kills and hit .500 and added a team high three blocks. MacArthur added five kills and Kristine Fimlaid had four kills and hit .667.
Jenna Jones kept her impressive stretch going as she dished out 16 assists, served five aces, added six digs and tallied two kills.
The Regals hit .500 as they took the first set easily 25-13. With CLU up 11-10, the Regals scored nine straight points and cruised to the set one win. The Bulldogs kept the second and third sets close, but the Regals overpowered and took the next two sets with the same score 25-21 and claimed the match.
The semifinals of the SCIAC Tournament start Thursday and the Regals are at Chapman with the time to still be determined. The winner will advance to the SCIAC Tournament Championship.
