REDLANDS, Calif. — Erica Mitchell fired a 4-under-par 68 in the second round and Cal Lutheran women's golf set team records for lowest round and lowest 36-hole score as the Regals competed at the Bulldog Classic.
The event was hosted by the Redlands Bulldogs and consisted of seven teams and 40 individuals. The Regals turned in a fourth-place finished as they finished at 29-over-par with a program record of 605 strokes. CLU shot a 311 in the first round and turned their tournament around to fire a program record 294 in the second. It is the first time the Regals have shot less than 300 strokes in a round.
Brooke Logsdon led the team with 148 strokes as she shot a 74 in both rounds and finished at 4-over-par. She recorded the fourth-most birdies at the tournament with six and had the second-best scoring average on Par 3s with 2.75.
Mitchell was the next Regal and placed in the top-10 with 150 strokes. After a 82 in the first, she shot a tournament best and her new program record, 68 in the second and finished at 6-over-par and tied for 10th. She was one of two golfers to record an eagle and also tallied four birdies.
Claire Cornejo made it three regals in the top-15 as she placed 14th. She shot a 78 in the first round and 75 in the second for a total of 153 strokes (9-over-par). She tied for the third-most pars with 26 and had the ninth-best average on a Par 5 (5.00) and 11th-best average on a Par 3 (3.13).
Grace Cornejo and Chloe Barnes rounded out the team score. G. Cornejo was the fourth Regal to place in the top-15 as she tied for 15th at 10-over-par (77-77-154) and Barnes was 36th at 45-over-par (94-95-189).
The Regals have one final tournament during the fall and will be at George Fox Invitational from Oct. 5-6.
