The Regals and Poets went shot-for-shot the entire first half. With one second left in the second quarter, Danielle Roumbos knocked down a huge three-pointer to give the Regals a 36-32 lead as they headed into halftime.
It continued to be a close game until the Poets went on a 10-3 run with seven minutes left in the fourth quarter. With a few free throws made by Wada and a three-pointer from Gray, the Regals were back in the game. As the seconds dwindled down, the Regals were sent to the line five times. Westering was able to seal the deal for the Regals as she made both of her free throws. Cal Lutheran was able to walk away with a 79-73 victory over the Whittier Poets.
The Regals will see the court again on Saturday at 4 p.m. as they take on the no. 1 team in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the Chapman Panthers.
