THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.– The California Lutheran University men's swimming and diving team delivered some great performances in their second-place finish at their first home meet of the season, hosting Pomona-Pitzer and La Verne.
The Kingsmen would finish second in the tri-meet, earning 491.1 points. The visiting Sagehens would come out victorious with 534.1 points while the Leopards came in third with 414.4 points.
Andreas Nybo was the top performer for the Kingsmen, earning three first-place finishes on the day. The junior comfortable took the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.70 and followed it up with a victory in the 200-yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:54.59. To cap it all off, the Portola Valley, Calif. native won the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:57.08.
Ben Brewer had a decent day in the pool as well, notching a second-place finishing in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 4:45.35. The senior also tallied two third-place finishes at the meet in the 1,650-yard freestyle and the 200-yard IM.
Liam McCallum and Miles Gaitan grabbed a pair of individual victories, McCallum taking the 50-yard freestyle while Gaitan won the 100-yard backstroke. Gaitan then went on to record two second-place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard IM.
Also posting a couple solid times was Nick Kenny, earning a second-place finish behind McCallum in the 50-yard free while also finishing with a time of 48.57 in the 100-yard free, good enough to make the podium in third-place.
The Kingsmen get back in the pool Nov. 16 at 10:30 a.m. when they travel to take on Chapman and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps for another tri-meet.
