THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran men's swimming and diving team scored 361.5 points and placed third at the Chris Knorr Invitational which was held Friday and Saturday at the Samuelson Aquatics Center.
The Chris Knorr Leadership Award was given out to one male and female swimmer who best exemplifies some of Chris's best leadership qualities. Cal Lutheran's Jonah Hobbs and Chapman's Mary Welton were honored with the award.
Hobbs led the Kingsmen and claimed one event title as he won the 1,650-yard freestyle as he touched in with 16 minutes and 48.07 seconds. He was the runner-up in the 500-yard free and was fourth in the 200-yard free with times of 4:47.08 and 1:46.20, respectively.
Andreas Nybo had two runner-up finishes for the Violet and Gold. He touched in at 1:54.53 in the 200-yard butterfly and 2:11.53 in the 200-yard breaststroke. Nybo also placed fourth in the 100-yard fly with 52.86.
Pomona-Pitzer took home the men's title with 767.5 points. Fresno Pacific was second with 532 and Cal Lutheran was third with 361.5. UC Santa Cruz is fourth with 341.5, Chapman was fifth with 212.5 and Manhattan was sixth with 87.
The Kingsmen continue the season with a dual verses Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Samuelson Aquatics Center.
