Kyaw Named First Team, Ferrier Earns Second Team

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Cal Lutheran's Ryan Kyaw and Tyler Ferrier have been named to the 2018 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams, which were announced Friday morning following a vote by the league's member head coaches.

A freshman from Tarzana, Calif., Kyaw was named First Team All-SCIAC. He was one of three freshmen on the team, that was the most of any class. His top finish came at The Masters Invitational as he tied for second. He tied for fifth at the San Marcos Invitational and then finished in the top-10 three more times. He shot three rounds under-par including a season-low 69 at The Masters Invitational. In the spring, he competed in all 18 rounds for the Kingsmen. He finished the season with a stroke average of 75.11.

Ferrier was earned his first All-SCIAC nod in his final season. The senior from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., was named to the Second Team. He was one of the three seniors to earn All-SCIAC. Ferrier tied for second at the SCIAC No. 1 and the Centenary Invitational. He tied for fifth at the SCIAC Championships and then finished tied for ninth at three more tournaments. He fired four rounds under-par, including a season-low 4-under-par 68 at the SCIAC No. 1. Ferrier played all 18 rounds for the Kingsmen and recorded a stroke average of 74.33.

The duo helped Cal Lutheran win the Centenary Invitational. The Kingsmen finished the year strong as the Violet and Gold took home second at the SCIAC Championships. CLU also finished third at two more tournaments.

La Verne's Lee Fulmer was named the Athlete of the Year, his teammate Ken Sherman earned Newcomer of the Year, Whittier's Jesse Clark received the Sportsmanship Award and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' head coach Bim Jollymour and his staff earned Coaching Staff of the Year.
