THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran senior infielder Max Weinstein was named to the Division III Preseason Honorable Mention All-America Team, which was announced by D3baseball.com.
The D3baseball.com preseason All-America teams are chosen from previous years' All-American and All-Region nominations.
Last year, Weinstein was part of the Kingsmen's national championship team that went 40-11. They were just the second team in program history to reach the 40-win plateau.
A native of Canyon County, Calif., Weinstein played in all 51 games for the Kingsmen a year ago. He had a .384 batting average and totaled 35 runs batted in, both were second on the team when it came to starters. He led the team with 74 hits and accounted for 41 runs. He tallied 13 doubles, two triples and five homeruns. As an infielder, he had a fielding percentage of .958.
The Violet and Gold look to defend their national championship as the Kingsmen start the 2018 season Friday Feb.16, at 2:30 p.m. in La Verne, Calif., verses the La Verne Leopards.
