Tracy L. (Maple) Olson, who has experience in media relations at three different SCIAC intuitions, is in her second stint as Sports Information Director at Cal Lutheran, rejoining the Kingsmen and Regals in January of 2012 before returning to the Director role for the 2012-13 academic year.

In her role, she oversees athletic media relations for all 21 Kingsmen and Regals sports team and also manages the athletic department website,, Facebook page,, Twitter account,, and Instagram account,

Olson previously served as the SID at Cal Lutheran during the 2006-07 academic year. She covered the women’s water polo team as it won a collegiate III national championship.

Before returning to CLU, Olson served four years as the Sports Information Director at Occidental College, managing a staff that included an assistant SID and interns, covering 21 sports. There she spearheaded a complete redesign of the athletic website and also added streaming broadcasts and live statistics for the athletic programs. Additionally, she was responsible for game management, overseeing event staffing for all home events including supervision of as many as 50 student workers each year.

Prior to her joining the CLU family in 2006, Olson was the first full-time Sports Information Director at her alma mater, Whittier College. She provided coverage of all 21 Poets teams.

During her professional career she has be integrally involved in hosting NCAA Tournament contests for basketball, football, soccer and volleyball.

Olson is a 2004 graduate of Whittier, where she was a member of the swimming and diving team and was involved in the SAAC. She earned a bachelor’s of arts in kinesiology with an emphasis in sport management and later earned her master’s degree from Whittier in education. For the Poets, she was a photographer for the yearbook and school newspaper and a member of Phi Epsilon Kappa.

On the national level, Olson is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). She served two years on the CoSIDA Membership Committee (07-08) and three on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Committee (2013-15) and has attended five national conventions.

She also served three years as the chair of SCIAC Sports Information Directors. In addition to work with the SCIAC, Olson has also volunteered at other conference and NCAA national championships, including the 2012 Division III outdoor track and field meet at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

A native of Randolph, Mass., Olson earned 13 varsity letters in athletics at Randolph JR/SR High School. She is a full-blooded Boston fan and attends as many Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots games as possible. In June of 2015 she was married in her home state of Massachusetts and welcomed a daughter in September 2016. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, travel, hiking, the beach, lake trips and spending time with family and friends across the country.



Matt McClenathen

Matt McClenathen joined Cal Lutheran as the Assistant Sports Information Director in September 2014.

In his role, he assists with athletic media relations for all 21 Kingsmen and Regals sports teams which includes writing game recaps, press releases, updating statistics and managing the athletic department website, He also updates all CLU Sports social media through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and played an integral role in the creation of the 2014-15 hashtag #ownthethrone.

McClenathen recently graduated from UC Santa Barbara in June 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in communication and a certificate in sport management. While at UCSB, he served as an intern in the Athletic Communications office for two years and performed a variety of duties. He was the sole contact for the 2012-13 men's and women's swimming and diving teams and spent much of his time covering Gauchos softball. McClenathen also worked closely with ESPNU as the Timeout Coordinator for televised men's basketball games. Prior to attending UCSB, he went to Occidental College where he was a member of the Tigers basketball team.

A native of Goleta, Calif., McClenathen graduated from Dos Pueblos High School where he served as ASB President and played baseball and basketball all four years. As a senior, he earned MVP honors and First Team All-Channel League recognition for the Chargers basketball team and is also an Eagle Scout.

In his spare time he enjoys playing basketball, baseball, piano, wakeboarding and camping. He is an avid fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and Dodgers and currently resides in Thousand Oaks.
