Kingsmen Conclude Cal Lu Fornia Invitational with Win

On the last day of the Second Annual Cal Lu Fornia Invitational, the Cal Lutheran men’s volleyball team swept past Regis (Mass.) 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-19) inside Gilbert Arena on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Kingsmen conclude a strong showing as tournament hosts, winning two out of three matches in two days.

The Cal Lutheran women’s track and field team competed at the Occidental Distance Carnival Spring Break Classic all day Friday and turned in a handful of strong performances at the Bill Henry Track inside Jack Kemp Stadium.

Kingsmen Top Redhawks on First Day of Cal Lu Fornia Invitational

On the first day of the Second Annual Cal Lu Fornia Invitational, the Cal Lutheran men’s volleyball team split the competition, defeating Benedictine-Mesa (Ariz.) in a five-set thriller 3-2 (25-12, 16-25, 25-17, 23-25, 15-12) before falling to No. 10 Wentworth 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-23) inside Gilbert Arena.

The Kingsmen started the first match of the weekend on a strong note, hitting a blistering .478 in the first set while putting the Redhawks away 25-12. With the score 7-5 early on, the Violet and Gold strung together 12 straight points with Kristian Gallardo behind the service line. Gallardo was a force to be reckoned with all match, tallying four service aces, including three in the first set alone.

On a warm and overcast afternoon, the Cal Lutheran women's tennis team challenged Division I Valparaiso (Ind.) in a dual match at the Poulson Tennis Center, falling 5-4 in a close battle.

On a beautiful Tuesday afternoon, the Cal Lutheran men’s tennis team hosted No. 27 Christopher Newport (Va.), challenging the Captains to a 6-3 defeat while Dara Kashanigot a win over a ranked opponent at No. 2 singles.
