LOS ANGELES, Calif. --  Announced by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Sunday, Cal Lutheran women’s golfer McKay Weiler was selected as Second Team All-SCIAC after her strong debut season. She becomes the second player ever in program history to be named to the all-conference team, joining Brenna Callero who earned Second Team honors in 2012.

In just her first season at Cal Lutheran, Weiler quickly positioned herself as the team’s top golfer. Playing as the No. 1, Weiler was the team’s top overall finisher in seven of the nine events played. Her stroke average of 83.8 led CLU and she averaged an 86 during six SCIAC rounds which was 11th best in the conference. During the year-end SCIAC Championships, Weiler recorded a three-day score of 249 (84-80-85) to finish in 14th place.

Weiler’s best round came at the Embry-Riddle Tournament in March when she carded a six-over par 78. Her 78 led the Regals as the team set a school record score of 338 that day.

SCIAC Champion Tiffany Su of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the Player of the Year award while Kristin Oberiano of Occidental College earned the Freshman of the Year.

In just its second year competing as a varsity sport, Cal Lutheran women’s golf made enormous strides during the 2012-13 season and was the mark of consistency, finishing third in six consecutive tournaments to end the season.
