Kingsmen Compete at Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers Meet
Kingsmen start 2013 schedule
CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran men’s track and field got their 2013 season underway Saturday, recording nine top-five finishes at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers Meet.
Erik Fruth got the solid day started for CLU, placing second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.95. His teammate, Ed Garrett, finished sixth in a time of 1:04.12. Fruth also came in fourth in the 110 meter hurdles while Joe Forster came in tenth.
Matthew Hamlett finished in eighth place in the 400 meter race after clocking 51.20 while Dylan Perriseau was sixteenth in the 1000 meter run. Nick Privitelli and Dominick Allen rounded out the individual running events for CLU, finishing in 12th and 13th respectively in the mile run.
The relay team consisting of Justin Reeves, Conor Frinfrock, Tristan Baer, and Halaiano Aholelei-Fuentes combined to record a time of 42.39 in the 4x 100 meter relay race to finish second.
Aholelei-Fuentes transitioned from sprinting to the long jump where he leapt 6.29 meters to finish in fifth place.
Cal Lutheran had an impressive showing during the throws portion of the meet. Justin Puccinelli got things started when he threw the javelin 57.63 meters to finish in second out of 26 throwers.
Roy Diaz kept things going when he placed second in the hammer-throw after a toss of 45.92 meters. James Laughlin came in fifth in the hammer-throw, shot put, and discus events.
The Kingsmen return to the track Saturday Feb. 26, to participate in the Rossi Relays in Claremont, Calif.
