McALLEN, Tex. – Spencer Trygg’s baseball career did not come to a conclusion when the Cal Lutheran season ended this spring. After a post Major League Baseball (MLB) draft workout in Detroit June 16-17, the 6-foot-3 righty signed a contract with the McAllen Thunder of the United League.

The league, which began in 2006, is comprised of six teams in Texas. The season got under way in late May and will continue through early September as the schedule calls for 96-games.

On June 26, Trygg met up with the Thunder as they prepared to face the Fort Worth Cats. He is one of the youngest players on the roster as he joined a group of players from a variety of backgrounds, majority with Division I playing experience. He is currently serving as a middle reliever for McAllen.

This spring, Trygg took the ball out of the CLU bullpen 13 times. He earned a 1-1 record, striking out eight in 11.2 innings of work.

The Kingsmen finished 23-15 overall and earned a third place finish in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with an 18-10 mark.
