ORANGE, Calif. - Following three straight victories to open the season the Cal Lutheran women's tennis team fell 9-0 at No. 23 Chapman University on Thursday afternoon. The match kicked off a three matches in three days stretch for the Regals as they will host SCIAC matches on Friday and Saturday.

Box Score: CHAP 9, CLU 0 - F

Sophomore Jordan Leckness faced the top ranked player in the west region, Elizabeth Lewis, in the No. 1 singles matchup and Lewis came away with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Leckness ranks No. 22 in the region.

CLU swept doubles in its first three matches in 2010 and on Thursday the role was reversed as Chapman took all three doubles contests on its home courts.

Sophomore Holly Beaman provided the most competitive singles match for the Regals against Kelley Fox at No. 2 singles. Fox took the victory 6-4, 6-2.

Beaman, like the Regals, suffered her first taste of defeat this season. The CLU Female Athlete of the Week for Feb. 8-14 lost for the first time on Thursday. She is 3-1 in singles and doubles this season.

Last season the Panthers defeated Cal Lutheran 6-3 at the Poulson Tennis Center on campus. This season Chapman is ranked 23rd in the nation and No. 4 in the west region. CLU is ranked ninth in the region.

Cal Lutheran (3-1) will welcome Caltech on Friday at 2 p.m. and then Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at 11 a.m. to complete its three matches in three days run.
