Trio of Regals Earn All-SCIAC First Team Selections

Butte, Cyprian and Windsor recognized for quality play

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the 2008 All-Conference women’s water polo team with Meredith Butte, Joy Cyprian and Katie Windsor all receiving first team selections. It marks the first SCIAC selection for all three as each were major contributors to becoming SCIAC and Collegiate III runner-ups this season.

Windsor, a senior goalkeeper from La Quinta, California stopped 277 shots and held opponents to 7.98 goals per game. She recorded 26 steals and assisted on 16 goals while starting 30 games this season. The Regals went 16-14 in games Windsor started in goal.

Butte, a sophomore transfer from UC Berkeley was a major contributor in her first year on the Regals squad. She led the team in goals (61), assists (35) and drawn ejections (60). In 28 games she recorded 47 steals ranking second on the team.

Cyprian, a sophomore out of Ventura, California completed the offensive first team duo. She was second on the team in goals (58) and drawn ejections (45). Her 24 assists ranked third on the team and she also grabbed 30 steals in as many games played.

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges senior Laura Condon was named SCIAC Player of the Year.

Cal Lutheran (17-14, 7-1 SCIAC) earned its highest finish in conference play and made back-to-back appearances in the Collegiate III Championship tournament.

The three selections marks a new high for the programs after earning one in 2005 and 2006, to go along with a pair in 2007.
