LA VERNE, Calif. – The California Lutheran University men’s basketball team cruised to an 82-66 win over the University of La Verne (ULV) on Saturday night. The sophomore duo of Andy Meier and Mychal Owens combined to shoot 21-of-27 and score seven more points than the entire starting five for the Leopards.

Meier, Owens and with a final second three-pointer from Kyle Knudsen, the trio had managed to score in double figures by the end of the first half. However, La Verne was able to get to the foul line and connect on 9-of-11 free throws to stay within eight points at the break.

Those same three players put the game out of reach by opening the second half on a 15-2 run to build its largest lead at 58-37.

The senior backcourt duo of Chad Acerboni and Deshion Inniss needed to provide little offensive assistance in the form of scoring but each dished out five assists.

ULV's Juan Canas and Drew Terry were both one rebound shy of a double-double while combining for 25 points.

Cal Lutheran (17-3, 7-2 SCIAC) will host Caltech (1-19, 0-9 SCIAC) on Wednesday, February 13 at 7:30 p.m.
