Kingsmen Secure Win Over Schreiner

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - On a warm, sunny Southern California afternoon, the Cal Lutheran and Schreiner (Texas) men's tennis teams squared off at the Poulson Tennis Center where the Kingsmen defeated the visiting squad 7-2.

CLU got off to a strong 3-0 finish in doubles with Ransom Braaten and Dara Kashani earning a dominating 8-1 win at No. 1. The No. 2 duo of Lucas Tilly and Jake Haffner worked to an 8-2 win and the sweep was completed by Andrew Tufenkian and Joshua Legardy at No. 3 where the team posted an 8-4 victory.

Once singles action got underway, Braaten disposed of his opponent at the first court by scores of 6-0, 6-1 while Kashani needed extra points in the second game to take his match 6-1, 7-6 (4). Clinching things for CLU at No. 5 was sophomore Michael Sulahian whose 6-0, 7-5 final got more challenging as the pair played. Finally, Tilly put a complete match in the books by, wrapping things up with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 tiebreaker win.

Cal Lutheran (2-8) has a quick turnaround as the Kingsmen welcome Southwestern (Texas) to campus tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 10:00 a.m. for another non-conference match inside the Poulson Tennis Center.
