CLAREMONT, Calif. - After battling to a 1-1 draw against No. 24 Pomona-Pitzer in their first matchup this season, the Cal Lutheran women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 contest to the first-place Sagehens in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action on the road Wednesday night.
Offensive Highlights: Kali Youngdahl led the offensive unit for CLU with three shots, all of which were on target while Maddy Griess and Ryley Settles also recorded shots on goal for the Regals.
Defensive Highlights: After setting a career-high with 12 saves against the Sagehens earlier this season, Coral Hasley finished with her third best total of the year with five.
The Opponent: Pomona-Pitzer got on the board in the 25th minute of the match with a goal from Natasha Thornton-Clark and doubled up its lead on a Bria VarnBuhler goal in the 70th minute. The Sagehens outshot the Regals 19-9 and held a 6-2 advantage on corner kicks.
Cal Lutheran (11-3-3, 5-3-3) returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 22 against La Verne at 5:00 p.m. inside Rolland Stadium.
