CLAREMONT, Calif. - For the first time this season, the No. 15 Cal Lutheran women's soccer team failed to find the back of the net and dropped a 1-0 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) matchup to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on the road Saturday night.
Offensive Highlights: The Regals outshot the Athenas 14-10, but CMS was able to come up with 10 saves to keep CLU scoreless. Ryley Settles and Kali Youngdahl led the Violet and Gold with three shots apiece while Katelyn Kimball fired off two shots and six other Regals added one.
Defensive Highlights: Coral Hasley came away with two saves, both in the second half, and now has 11 this season.
The Opponent: CMS got on the board in the 15th minute of the game and held off a furious Regals attack to preserve the shutout. Laynee Laube scored her third goal of the season off an assist from Sarah Tocher. The Athenas also edged CLU on corner kicks, 6-3.
Next Up: Cal Lutheran (5-1) will continue conference action on the road against Chapman this Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7:00 p.m.
