FULLERTON, Calif. - Tonight at Hope International, the Cal Lutheran men's volleyball team faced the Royals in a non-conference match, falling 3-0 to the NAIA team.
Offensive Highlights: CLU looked to Jordan Castro for a team high 11 kills on a night when the Violet and Gold combined for just 28. He hit at a .429 clip and was one of four players to hit at a positive percentage on the night. Keaton Arutian handed out 24 assists and put down four of the six Cal Lutheran service aces tonight.
Defensive Highlights: The Kingsmen were paced by Jamal Balkhi with a match-leading 14 digs and Arutian finished with nine. The defense teamed up for four block assists, two coming from Nicholas Oertli.
The Opponent: Hope International (9-8) was led by Beau-General Osborne with a match-high 18 kills while Jared Shirai and Enrique Lopez shared the setting duties with 18 and 15 assists apiece, respectively.
Notables: The Kingsmen and Royals met earlier this season with HIU earning a 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-13, 25-19) victory and Hope International holds an all-time 2-0 advantage.
Next Up: Cal Lutheran (3-14) travels back to Hope International for a neutral site contest against Benedictine-Mesa on Friday, Feb. 26 with first serve scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
