McGinn, McGinnis Garner All-SCIAC
CLU pair honored by league
PASADENA, Calif. –Announced today by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), two golfers garnered All-SCIAC honors for Cal Lutheran this spring, each becoming a repeat recipient.
A three-time First Team All-SCIAC honoree is senior Mikey McGinn. In the three league tournaments this spring he finished fourth, fifth and tied for 10th. During the seven total rounds this season, McGinn was under-par a pair of times and shot an even round once. All seven of his rounds scored for CLU and were 79 strokes or better with his best SCIAC score of the season coming by way of a 70.
Barret McGinnis was selected to the Second Team All-SCIAC for the second consecutive year. He used a one-under 71 in the first round of the SCIAC No. 2 to tie for sixth at the event. Overall, McGinnis shot six rounds in the 70’s.
Redlands junior Bobby Holden was named the 2014 SCIAC Player of the Year while the other two individual honors came from La Verne. Alec Spencer emerged as the top newcomer in the league, taking home Freshman of the Year accolades while Keven Holliday earned the Jesse Clark Sportsmanship Award in his final season of golf for the Leopards.
A number of SCIAC golfers, including McGinn, will continue competition at the NCAA Division III Championships from May 13-16 in Greensboro, N.C. at the Grandover Resort.
