Kingsmen Release 2013-14 Schedule
CLU hosts 15 home games in 2013-14
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- 15 home games and two tournaments highlight the 2013-14 Cal Lutheran men’s basketball schedule recently announced by head coach Rich Rider. The Kingsmen open their schedule with two exhibition games. CLU travels to Division I Loyola Marymount on Nov. 2 with the Kingsmen and Lions tipping off at 7:30pm before the Kingsmen host the El Salvador National Team on Nov. 5 at 7:00pm.
CLU opens its regular season on Saturday, Nov. 16 when it travels north to take on UC Santa Cruz at 1:00pm. Four days later, the Kingsmen kickoff their home schedule when it hosts Bethesda Christian on Nov. 20 with tip-off coming at 7:30pm.
Pacifica comes to Gilbert Arena on Nov. 26 before Cal Lutheran opens up Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Dec. 4 against Pomona-Pitzer in Claremont, Calif. The following Saturday, Cal Lutheran continues on the road, playing at Chapman on Dec. 7.
After hosting St. Katherine on Dec. 11, the Kingsmen will participate in the SCIAC Classic Dec. 14-15. On Saturday, Cal Lutheran plays Illinois Tech at 1:00pm inside of Braun Gymnasium on the campus of Caltech. The next day, CLU returns to Gilbert Arena to take on UC Santa Cruz at 1:00pm.
The Kingsmen then host Willamette on Dec. 21 prior to hosting the Thrivent Financial Tournament Dec. 29-30. On Sunday, Cal Lutheran opens the tournament with Ripon College (Wis.) at 6:00pm. Otterbein (Ohio) plays Hamline (Minn.) in the night-cap. The losers of game one and game two play at 6:00pm on Monday with the championship game following at 8:00pm.
Cal Lutheran resumes SCIAC play with 14 conference games to close out the season. CLU has home games with La Verne on Jan. 2 and Occidental Jan. 4 before hitting the road to take on Caltech and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
The Kingsmen have a two-game home-stand when it hosts defending SCIAC Champion Redland on Jan. 18 and Chapman on Jan. 22.
Four home games highlight the final month of the season with Pomona-Pitzer coming to Thousand Oaks on Feb. 1 and Caltech on Feb. 5. The Kingsmen then round out their regular season home schedule with Whittier on Feb. 19 and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Feb. 22.
All SCIAC weekday games will be played at 7:30pm while Saturday games are slotted for 5:00pm.
The SCIAC Postseason Tournament will be held Feb. 28- March 1.
