The season finale for the Cal Lutheran men’s water polo team was a battle as the Kingsmen closed out the 2014 SCIAC Men’s Water Polo Championships, hosted by Redlands, with a 13-12 victory over La Verne to take fifth place in one of the most evenly matched and closest games of the weekend.
In the final game on day one of the SCIAC Men’s Water Polo Championships, fifth-seeded Cal Lutheran fell 12-6 to host and fourth seeded Redlands on Friday evening, though Zach Graper scored five times.
Today for the final time, six Kingsmen suited up at the Samuelson Aquatics Center for competition. The last SCIAC game of the regular season featured Cal Lutheran and Pomona-Pitzer with the Kingsmen making it a memorable one by prevailing 9-7.
On Saturday, Nov. 1 the Lilian Slade Aquatics Center on the campus of Whittier College felt much like a home game for the Cal Lutheran men’s water polo team. Earlier this year the Kingsmen were adopted by a kindergarten class from Ceres Elementary School in Whittier and the entire class, with parents and siblings, were in attendance.
On an unusually warm November afternoon, Cal Lutheran hosted Redlands in an important SCIAC contest inside the Samuelson Aquatics Center. A third quarter meltdown was detrimental for the Kingsmen who fell 10-8 at the paws of the Bulldogs today.
