After a two week hiatus from competition the Cal Lutheran men’s water polo was back in the pool at the Cal Baptist Invitational tonight where the Kingsmen fell to Fresno Pacific, 15-9, and host CBU, 13-7.
Opening weekend for the Cal Lutheran men’s water polo team pitted the Kingsmen against a pair of upper Division opponents in UC San Diego and the Air Force Academy at the 2014 Triton Invitational. CLU fell 16-6 to host UCSD and dropped a second game, 12-8, to AFA in the afternoon.
A productive offseason has put the 2014 Cal Lutheran men’s water polo team in a position to contend for the first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) title in the history of the program.
Much praise is focused on athletic success during the day-to-day operations of Cal Lutheran athletics, but on Saturday, May 10, 160 student-athletes were recognized, honored and inducted into the CLU Scholar Athlete Society at the 11th annual induction ceremony in the Gilbert Arena.
Cal Lutheran is one of 448 Division III institutions around the country. During the week of April 7-13, all members will host Division III Week, aimed at celebrating what those schools have to offer student-athletes in the classroom, in the field of play and in the community during the 40th year of the NCAA.
Announced last week by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) seven Cal Lutheran water polo players have earned All-Academic recognition for his success both in the classroom and the pool this year.
