Kingsmen Battle Trojans in Home Opener

The Cal Lutheran men’s volleyball team kicked off its second season of NCAA Division III existence with a tough battle against Division II opponent Mount Olive (N.C.) inside Gilbert Arena on Monday night. The Kingsmen showed some resilience late in the match but ultimately fell to the Trojans 3-1 (25-9, 25-18, 22-25, 25-18) in their home opener.

Kingsmen Volleyball Set for 2017

The Cal Lutheran men’s volleyball team is coming off of its inaugural season and is revamped for 2017. The Kingsmen enter the new year with an even blend of nine returners and nine newcomers which creates a diverse yet very experienced group.

2015-16: A Year in Review

The 2015-16 academic year was a memorable one for the Cal Lutheran athletics department. With 430 student-athletes occupying 460 roster spots, a number of milestones were met including the first NCAA Division III National title in school history, which was achieved by the women’s volleyball team, and an individual national champion crowned to round out the year.

CLU Hosts 13th Scholar-Athlete Society Induction

Throughout the school year, much of the day-to-day focus is directed towards the successes of the Cal Lutheran athletics programs, but on Saturday, May 7, a group of 150 student-athletes, with their families and friends, gathered inside of the Gilbert Arena for the 13th CLU Scholar-Athlete Society Induction ceremony where academics were praised.

Kingsmen Round Out Inaugural Season with Win

The Inaugural NCAA Division III men’s volleyball season at Cal Lutheran came to a close this weekend as the Kingsmen played two matches in Northern California. On Friday, CLU faced UC Santa Cruz for the fourth time of the season and on Saturday, the season wrapped up with a victory against NCAA Division II Holy Names.

During the week of April 4-10, all members will host Division III Week, aimed at celebrating what those schools have to offer student-athletes in the classroom, in the field of play and in the community during the 42nd year of the NCAA.

LA Rams Training Moving to Cal Lutheran

California Lutheran University has entered into an agreement with the Los Angeles Rams to allow the team to base its training operations on the university’s Thousand Oaks campus for at least two years.

Kingsmen Serve in New York; Earn First NCAA Division III Victory

The Cal Lutheran men’s volleyball team traveled across the country to play five matches in three days. The first four came at the Nazareth Purple and Gold Tournament while the final contest was at the State University of New York (SUNY) Polytechnic Institute where the Kingsmen earned their first victory over a Division III opponent in the NCAA era at Cal Lutheran. Three of the squads CLU faced are currently ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-15.

Thompson Serves as Honorary Captain on Senior Night

For the final time in its inaugural season, the Cal Lutheran men’s volleyball team squared off inside Gilbert Arena where the Kingsmen fell to Ramapo 3-1 (25-19, 25-20, 16-25, 25-22) on Tuesday. The night, however, was about more than just volleyball as CLU teamed up with Cancer Fit Inc. to promote Childhood Cancer Awareness, and 13-year-old cancer survivor, Tyler Thompson, served as the honorary captain for the match.
