Kingsmen Show Strength at Distance Carnival

CLU returns to SCIAC action on Apr. 1

Dillon Brown had the top finish of the day for the Kingsmen in the Long Jump at the Oxy Distance Carnival Spring Break Classic.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – With a full day of events on Friday, the Cal Lutheran men’s track and field team competed at the Occidental Distance Carnival Spring Break Classic and had many strong performances throughout the meet at Bill Henry Track inside Jack Kemp Stadium.

A variety of Kingsmen shined bright in their respective events, among them Adam Silverman who led CLU in both the Discus and Hammer events. The freshman thrower has made an immediate impact for the Violet and Gold and set marks of 33.81m in the Discus and 39.20m in the Hammer. In the Javelin, Cody Jones had the top distance for CLU with a mark of 39.23m.

Cameron James sprinted his way to a fifth place overall finish in the 100m (11.09) to pace the Kingsmen while Wendell O’Brien was close behind with a time of 11.24. In the 400m, Dallas Knapp (50.05) and Christian Brodnax (50.42) led the Violet and Gold.

Brodnax also led CLU in the High Jump, clearing the bar at 1.76m while Jeffrey Dizon cleared 1.61m. Dillon Brown leaped 6.18m in the Long Jump and Jackson Cockrell went 12.79m in the Triple Jump to round out the top performers in the jumping events.

Top performances in the distance events came from Timmy Kahovec in the 800m (1:54.39), Daniel Tustin in the 1500m (4:16.88), Rigoberto Baza Carillo in the 5000m (16:06.13) and Alex Johnston in the 10,000m (34:26.92).

Cal Lutheran returns to the Bill Henry Track for the SCIAC Multi-Dual No. 2 meet on Saturday, Apr. 1 and will take on Chapman, Pomona-Pitzer and Whittier.
