Tigers, Bulldogs Edge Kingsmen at SCIAC No. 2

Competing for just the second time against conference opponents, the Cal Lutheran men’s track and field team was edged slightly by Redlands (84-72) and Occidental (95-66) at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) No. 2 meet on Saturday.

Hanson Honored with SCIAC Distinguished Service Award

Announced recently by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) office, Dr. Paul Hanson of Cal Lutheran has been honored as the 2015 Distinguished Service Award recipient. Dr. Hanson has served as the Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) for close to 20 years, sharing his depth of experience and wisdom with the SCIAC and helped to forge the course for Division III athletics in Southern California.

Kingsmen Show Promise at SCIAC Multi-Dual Meet

On Saturday at La Verne, the Cal Lutheran men’s track and field team opened SCIAC competition. The Kingsmen had some solid performances despite falling to both host La Verne (108-50) and Pomona-Pitzer (99-63) at the Multi-Dual meet hosted by the Leopards on Saturday.

Following a three week hiatus from competition, the Cal Lutheran men’s track and field team competed at the Rossi Relays hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and the Kingsmen shined against a strong field.

Perez Stays on Track

Ryan Perez made tremendous strides last summer and completed the best cross country season of his career in the fall. Yet only a few weeks later, the Cal Lutheran junior was ready to end his college athletic career for good. Physically and mentally exhausted, Perez wanted to stop running competitively and focus on other things.

Although the day of the Sunshine Open hosted by Westmont College was the furthest thing from sunny, the weather did not deter Ryan Perez or Garrett Baker as the duo both broke the previous Cal Lutheran men’s track and field record for the 3,000m run.
