In the first SCIAC Quad Meet of the season the
Cal Lutheran women's track and field team went 2-0 while the men's team
finished 0-2 on Saturday. The Kingsmen and Regals combined for 11 first place
finishes on the day while competing on the same track as Whittier,
La Verne and
host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Under
rainy conditions three throwers from the Cal Lutheran men's and women's track
and field teams claimed first place finishes at the 14th Annual Rossi Relays on
Saturday. Christa Youngern landed in the top-spot in three events while Eric
Flores nabbed two and Chris Brouilette won the javelin.

Members of the Cal Lutheran men's and women's
track and field teams competed at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet on
Saturday. Ray Ostrander who already owned the CLU record in the 3,000-meter
race improved his record setting time by nearly seven seconds.

The Cal Lutheran men's and women's track and
field teams got their respective 2010 seasons underway at the five-team Santa
Barbara City College Opener held on Saturday. Combined CLU athletes notched eight
first place finishes out of 37 events.

Last season the Cal Lutheran women's track and
field team finished second in the SCIAC and the men were third. In the 2010
season that will get underway Saturday, both teams return the majority of the
athletes that helped guide the team a year ago and have added some promising young
newcomers that hope to push CLU to the next level.

This Saturday six different Cal Lutheran programs
will participate in home athletic competitions as part of CLU "Sports Fest."
The day begins with swimming and diving in its final home meet of the season
against Whittier at the Samuelson Aquatics Center starting at 10:30 a.m.

The Cal Lutheran women's tennis team will travel to
Occidental College on Saturday morning initiating the 2010 spring sports
schedule. The CLU baseball and softball teams will provide the first home
spring contests with both hosting Sunday doubleheaders against La Sierra at 11
a.m. and Noon, respectively.

Into the later evening and early morning hours of
Wednesday and Thursday will the longstanding CLU tradition of Midnight Madness,
where students will celebrate the beginning of the Kingsmen and Regals
basketball season, also begins Homecoming Weekend October 15-18.
