Throughout the school year, much of the day-to-day focus is directed towards the successes of the Cal Lutheran athletics programs, but on Saturday, May 7, a group of 150 student-athletes, with their families and friends, gathered inside of the Gilbert Arena for the 13th CLU Scholar-Athlete Society Induction ceremony where academics were praised.
Cal Lutheran is one of 450 Division III institutions around the country. During the week of April 4-10, all members will host Division III Week, aimed at celebrating what those schools have to offer student-athletes in the classroom, in the field of play and in the community during the 42nd year of the NCAA.
California Lutheran University has entered into an agreement with the Los Angeles Rams to allow the team to base its training operations on the university’s Thousand Oaks campus for at least two years.
Announced on Thursday by the league office, six members of the men’s swimming and diving team, Jack Acampora, Jonah Hobbs, Zach Loza, Thelen McKinna-Worrell, Lucas Reddell and Zach Zamecki, earned All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) honors for their strong performance at the 2016 SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championships last weekend.
For the second time in three years Grinnell College and the Russell K. Osgood Natatorium served as a host site for one of the four NCAA Division III Diving Regionals this weekend. Senior Lucas Reddell represented Cal Lutheran.
Cal Lutheran men’s swimming and diving team placed fourth at the 2016 SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championships for the second straight year and Jonah Hobbs swam his way to his second 1650 freestyle title to lead the way on the final day of competition at Splash! La Mirada.
Another solid day of competition for the Cal Lutheran men’s swimming and diving team on the third day of the 2016 SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championships saw a new school record in the 400 Medley Relay while both Zach Loza and Lucas Reddell reeled in individual All-SCIAC honors.
On the second day of the 2016 SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championships Jonah Hobbs earned an individual trip to the podium for the Cal Lutheran men’s swimming and diving team that slipped to fourth in the team standings.
The 2016 SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championships are underway and on opening night the Cal Lutheran men’s 800 Free Relay team not only earned a spot on the podium as the runner up, but set a new school record in the process.
