Senior day for the Cal Lutheran men’s swimming and diving team saw a trio recognized prior to competition, though the outcome was sour as Pomona-Pitzer defeated the Kingsmen 139-95 marking the first SCIAC loss of the season for the host squad.

Kingsmen Swim Past Poets for Best SCIAC Start in Program History

The Cal Lutheran men’s swimming and diving team made history on Saturday afternoon, becoming the first Kingsmen team in program history to start 3-0 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) dual meets after taking down Whittier 138-84 at the Lillian Slade Aquatics Center.

Campbell Earns Chris Knorr Leadership Award; Kingsmen Defeat Banana Slugs

The first home event of the New Year for Cal Lutheran was in honor of a former team member for the men’s swimming and diving team that ended with a sweet 144-143 victory. The Fourth Annual Chris Knorr Invitational featured a dual meet between the Kingsmen and UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs inside of the Samuelson Aquatics Center and despite rains early on, the feeling on the pool deck was warm and celebratory.

The Cal Lutheran men’s swimming and diving team traveled north over the weekend to take on UC Santa Cruz where they fell by a total score of 571.50-470.50 in a high-scoring two-day tri-meet.

Hobbs, Porter Reel in SCIAC AOW Honors

Announced on Monday afternoon by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), Jonah Hobbs from the Cal Lutheran men’s swimming and diving team, and Janelle Porter of the Regals basketball team, were named Athlete of the Week for their respective sports based on their performance during the week of Nov. 14-20.

The Cal Lutheran men’s swimming and diving team took down visiting Occidental 183-101 in the second Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) dual-meet of the season, and first inside the Samuelson Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon.

After a second consecutive fourth-place finish in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) standings last year, the Cal Lutheran men’s swimming and diving team hopes to move up the ranks after returning 11 student-athletes and adding 12 newcomers for the 2016-17 season.

2015-16: A Year in Review

The 2015-16 academic year was a memorable one for the Cal Lutheran athletics department. With 430 student-athletes occupying 460 roster spots, a number of milestones were met including the first NCAA Division III National title in school history, which was achieved by the women’s volleyball team, and an individual national champion crowned to round out the year.
