Scholar-Athlete Society Recognizes 99 Students

A record-setting group of 99 student-athetes from 19 teams at California Lutheran University were recognized by the school's Scholar Athlete Society at a year-end banquet. All the students maintained a 3.4 GPA or higher for the academic year while particpating as a NCAA Division III student-athlete. 

Kingsmen Take Fourth in SCIAC All-Sports

Six of the 10 Cal Lutheran men's athletic programs secured top three conference finishes earning a fourth place result in the 2008-09 SCIAC All-Sports Standings. Points are awarded based on final conference standings for each of the nine SCIAC sports and awarded to each institution respectively.

Kingsmen Place Fourth to Conclude SCIAC Championships

The California Lutheran men's swimming and diving team took fourth place at the 2008-09 SCIAC Championships at Belmont Plaza, concluding Saturday evening. Kingsmen Jared Vermillion earned the first swimming individual title taking the 200-yard fly (1:54.63) to highlight the final day of competition.

Vaughn Dives to SCIAC Title at Conference Championships

The Cal Lutheran swimming and diving team earned its first individual title of the 2008-09 SCIAC Championships on Friday night as senior diver Eric Vaughn outclassed a field of 15 divers in the three-meter competition.

The Cal Lutheran swimming and diving teams completed day one of the three-day SCIAC Championships at the Belmont Plaza in Long Beach. The Kingsmen rank third and the Regals fifth in the team standings through eight events.

The CLU men's swimming and diving team concluded its regular season schedule with a 110-104 loss to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday morning. The Sagehens won the final four individual events to stack an insurmountable lead into the final relay.

Smith Bros, Vermillion Take Two Each

Despite winning nine of 13 events the California Lutheran men's swimming and diving team fell at Caltech, 111-101 on Saturday morning. The trio Gannon Smith, Quinn Smith and Jared Vermillion won a pair of events each in the loss.
