Men's Soccer Wins Offensive Showcase

It was scoring in bunches for both teams on Wednesday afternoon with Cal Lutheran doubling up host Caltech by a 6-3 margin. The Kingsmen soccer club picked up its first road win and second conference victory of the year in hopes of making a late push for the SCIAC tournament.

Despite taking 12 more shots than its opponent, the Cal Lutheran men's soccer team settled for a 0-0 tie on Wednesday evening against Occidental College. Playing on a wet and sloppy field the Kingsmen gave themselves many scoring opportunities and forced 13 saves by the Tigers.

Kingsmen newcomer Eddie Gonzalez headed home his first collegiate goal to open the scoring on Saturday morning, but the Poets freshman Francis Maxwell did one better netting both the equalizer and the game-winner handing the Cal Lutheran men's soccer team a 2-1 loss.

The Cal Lutheran men's soccer team held even with the co-leaders of the conference at home on Wednesday afternoon before succumbing to a four-goal second half by Redlands. UR senior John Brookover scored the game-winner in the 59th minute of play.

After allowing a goal just over one minute into the game the Cal Lutheran men's soccer team lost 1-0 at Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday. Goalkeeper Chris Holm made five saves and helped keep the Sagehens quiet over the final 88 minutes, but CLU was unable to net the equalizer.


Strong Goalkeeping Effort Saves Scoreless Tie with Chapman

Starting its second three-game road trip of the season on Monday night, the Cal Lutheran men's soccer team played to a scoreless tie with Chapman. CLU goalkeeper Chris Holm made nine saves in 110 minutes of action and has earned his first two collegiate solo shutouts in back-to-back games.
